Producer Reveals Batman’s Age (Batman v Superman)

Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been described by director Zack Snyder as someone who “bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter.” That description nonetheless doesn’t reveal just how old, exactly, Affleck as Bruce Wayne is in the film. Indeed, given the acknowledged influence of Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns comic book, Affleck’s Mr. Wayne could already be in his mid-50s.

Recent Batman V Superman set pics and videos showing Affleck with grey temples (coupled with rumors about Batman’s history in Snyder’s new movie) have indicated that, in the film, Bruce could indeed be showing the signs of wear and tear from his longtime battle against crime in Gotham City. The other possibility, of course, is that the 42-year old Affleck has simply been made up to look more befitting of a character who’s a decade (or so) older than the Oscar-winner currently is.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 arriving in 2016.

The Platinum Dunes-produced reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles overcame mostly negative reviews and fan suspicion over the creative direction of the turtles’ origins to rake in $65 million on its opening weekend. TMNT overtook Guardians of the Galaxy at the box office by a solid margin, something even we didn’t see it coming.

It should come as no surprise then that Paramount is announcing a sequel with a release date. Variety reports that on the heels of TMNT‘s resoundingly successful opening, the studio has lined up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 for a June 3, 2016 release. Platinum Dunes will again produce, with screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec also returning, but director Jonathan Liebesman was not mentioned.

Classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Villain to appear in TMNT movie.

Megan Fox has been an open book on this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles publicity tour. She told passionate TMNT fans to fuck off. She has professed love for Secret of the Ooze, and Vanilla Ice’s “Ninja Rap” (because, duh). And she just revealed a hidden cameo, despite admitting in an interview that she’s probably not supposed to give it away.

No one tells Megan Fox what to do! Right, Michael Bay?

Fox was chatting with ComingSoon about potential Easter Eggs in Jonathan Liebesman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and paused briefly before breaking down and revealing:

Terminator movie has a New Name: Terminator Genisys.

Arnold Schwarzenegger dropped the new name for the fifth Terminator today, as if he sensed that the public was starting to forget that yes, there IS another Terminator film heading to theaters next year. Part of the confusion as to whether this movie was still in play is the fact that the film’s title has been changing rather quickly in its recent production window. What started in April as Terminator: Genesis became plain old Terminator only two short months after, and with production now wrapped, yet another title has been chosen to carry the series into it’s fifth installment.

Schwarzenegger’s Instagram feed was the initial platform for this information’s launch. Just to confirm that this isn’t a gag, start up the drum roll and cast your eyes on this, your new Terminator title!

Really?

Apparently Terminator: Genesis is too passe, but Terminator: Genisys is hardcore enough for the kids to come and see the sequel their older brother keeps complaining about at the dinner table. Needless to say, this strategy is working about as well as you’d think. In other words, prepare for some comedic and misspelled Twitter backlash, starting with this obvious prediction!

Everything is Awesome: Two more LEGO movies arriving in 2018 & 2019.

Made for just $60 million, Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s The LEGO Movie created a rather sizable phenomenon when it came out earlier this year. Not only was the film an absolutely smash with critics, it also raked in more than $450 million at the global box office (not bad for a movie that sounded incredibly ridiculous when it was first announced!). Warner Bros. suddenly discovered that they had an entire brand that they could mine for new features, and it didn’t take long for them to announce a LEGO Movie 2. But now it sounds like they’re not stopping there.

The studio has just announced that they will be releasing two untitled animated films on May 25, 2018, and May 24, 2019 – and The Hollywood Reporter has word from an inside source that both titles will be LEGO related. It has already been announced that The LEGO Movie 2 will be coming out on May 26, 2017, so there is speculation that the 2019 date could be WB possibly getting ready for The LEGO Movie 3. There is also already a Ninjago project in the works – a “spin-off” in certain senses of the word – so it’s possible that the 2018 date is for Ninjago 2 (though that would mean that the company’s confidence in the property is through the roof).

The Last Airbender may not be M.Night’s fault after all.

If M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender is famous for anything, it’s for being an absolutely disaster. Fans of the animated series were over the moon with anticipation for the film, but now it stands as one of the most reviled big budget blockbusters of the modern era. Usually you can trace a disaster of this proportion to some bad mojo going on behind the scenes, and if a recently unearthed message board post is to be believed, then The Last Airbender is no exception to that.

This story comes to us from a fan message board called AvatarSpirit.net, where a user claiming to have behind the scenes knowledge about Shyamalan’s film has spilled the beans on some very dark, corporate details about the production. The user’s story begins by saying that things were all well and good in the first draft of the screenplay (penned by the director), but that the shit hit the fan once the producers got their teeth into it.

New Concept Art Reveals more about ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

nova

This weekend, a whole bunch of people got acquainted with the Nova Corps. Those are the intergalactic police that protect Xandar in Guardians Of The Galaxy and above you can see one of them. That’s concept art from “Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Art Of The Movie”, which is probably loaded with all sorts of goodies. Remember, this is a movie that basically began its promotional campaign with production art: few people knew what the Guardians Of The Galaxy were before Marvel debuted the idea for fans at Comic Con with concept sketches.

Rumor Time: Batman V Superman may be ‘Anti Superman’

A source close to the production told Batman On Film that the movie’s basic theme is very “anti-Superman”. There will apparently be protests and Bruce Wayne will step in to save people from a major disaster because his fellow superhero either can’t or won’t. If true, that may mean Superman would need to wait until Justice League to properly redeem himself. Or this could simply be the first and second act to a larger movie that will see everyone first hate and then love Kal-El again by the end. Hell, we could even see a Watchmen type scenario where the general public is bitterly divided on “costumed heroes”. We just don’t know.

Really, that’s one of the great things about Batman V Superman. In a typical superhero flick, most of us intuitively understand the heroes will probably conquer over the villains by the end and they’ll be back for another adventure later. Here, however, we have no idea if Batman and Superman will actually fight or even if they’ll join forces by the end. For all we know, this movie could be the Empire Strikes Back of the series and their hatred for one another could allow Lex Luthor to take control of Metropolis.

Josh Brolin already teasing his Next MARVEL Appearance.

Josh Brolin has a lot of work ahead of him in the next couple of years, starting, of course, with this summer’s double play of Guardians Of The Galaxy and Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Of course, the most high profile role in his queue right now is that of intergalactic emperor Thanos. After his formal announcement at Comic Con, Brolin has been asked tons of questions about his addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some answers he has answered, some he doesn’t, but one thing did come out in a recent interview: he already knows one of his future appearances in Phase 3.

IGN caught up with Josh Brolin recently and grilled him as much as they could on the obviously top secret plans for Marvel’s future between now and 2019. As it would turn out, he’s just as in the dark as the rest of us, though he does have one small advantage when it comes to knowledge of the future. While hinting at his ultimate arc in the MCU, Brolin let the following statement slip:

“I know what one appearance is going to be for sure. There’s one or two that I don’t know.”
